I've mentioned before how important it is to listen to your body and fuel it with what it leads you to. It's easy to recognize hunger and thirst, and often just as easy to satisfy. But what about essential oils? How can we be sure to satisfy what our body is needing with the use of our beloved oils? Here's a few tried and true ways:
1. SNIFF. Seriously. As you peruse your collection of oils there are certain ones that will just naturally stand out to you and make your brain say, "nope, not today" or "ah-ha! That's the one!". And of course, any variance in between. CPTG oils are very potent and the molecules that travel up your nose trigger your brain in various ways (more on that later).
For example: If you are feeling sluggish and lacking motivation, your body will automatically gravitate towards oils like Grapefruit, Wild Orange, Lemon and doTERRA's Cheer and Motivate. Hellooooo to those that are not made for high functionality in the mornings... looking at you (and at myself).
2. RESEARCH. There are a lot, and I mean ALOT, of resources out there to educate yourself on essential oils. And I have spent YEARS sifting through the behemoth of a mountain of books, articles, apps, and what have you. Here are my suggestions on the most accurate, reliable, scientific resources available to you to figure out what oils are best for your body:
a. Modern Essentials App
b. The Essential Life Book* (Click image below)
c. doTERRA Science Blog
d. Wellness scanners like iTovi
